Minister of Justice receives British Ambassador

Armenian Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan received Alexandra Cole, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia, the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ongoing work on constitutional reforms, the European Union’s Visa Liberalization Action Plan and the commitments undertaken by the Ministry of Justice within that framework, as well as the process of establishing a new personal data protection authority.

The discussion also covered reforms in the judicial, anti-corruption, penitentiary and probation sectors, steps taken toward digitalization and cybersecurity, and efforts to ensure transparency of party financing and regulate lobbying. Legislative initiatives aimed at combating hate speech and discrimination were also addressed.

Ambassador Cole expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of the reforms being implemented for state development, strengthening democracy and protecting human rights. She noted that the United Kingdom is ready to support the reforms carried out by the Ministry of Justice.

Minister Galyan stated that 2026 will be a year of strategic planning. The parties also underscored the need to develop and present a framework document for cooperation with international partners. The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue cooperation and maintain active dialogue to ensure the effective implementation of reforms.
