Armenian, Canadian officials discuss political dialogue

On December 4, in Vienna, on the margins of the 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Robert Oliphant, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a readout.

The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed on the recent regional developments, emphasizing the importance of consolidating and institutionalising the achieved peace. In this vein, Robert Abisoghomonyan underscored the role of the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative of the Government of Armenia and its key component, the “TRIPP” project, in unblocking the regional transport infrastructure.

During the meeting, issues on the Armenia–Canada bilateral agenda were also discussed. The importance of further deepening the political dialogue between the two countries was emphasized. The prospects for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including in the trade and economy, were touched upon.

The parties exchanged views on the upcoming 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Yerevan in 2026. Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan highlighted the vision of Armenia for convening an inclusive and effective COP17 and ensuring the meaningful participation of international partners and all relevant stakeholders.
