EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said that the EU and Türkiye will “intensify work” to support the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement.
Commissioner Kos made the comments after meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
“Türkiye is a key partner for stability in the South Caucasus, Mediterranean & Black Sea regions,” the EU Commissioner for Enlargement said on X. “With Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, we continue our positive agenda for EU-Türkiye relations. We will intensify work to support the Peace Agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
Commissioner Kos earlier told reporters in Brussels that the EU attaches importance to Türkiye’s role in the establishment of final peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed a peace agreement on August 8 in Washington, D.C.
