On December 2, Armenian Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan, being in Greece on an official visit, met with Nikitas Kaklamanis.
The issues regarding the development of inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation of friendship groups, as well as different topics of bilateral interest were at the core of the interlocutors’ discussions. Separate reference was made to regional developments and the peace process established between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Speaker Simonyan proposed his counterpart to take steps to elevate the relations between the two countries to the level of strategic cooperation, the Parliament's press service said in a readout.
Alen Simonyan drew the attention of the President of the Hellenic Parliament to the problem of the captives, illegally held and considered missing persons in Azerbaijan.
At the end of the meeting Armenian Speaker of Parliament invited his colleague to Armenia, which was gladly accepted by Nikitas Kaklamanis.
Afterwards Alen Simonyan toured the building of the Hellenic Parliament and got acquainted with the peculiarities of the legislative body of the friendly country. The heads of the parliaments of Armenia and Greece also made a statement to the press.
