A senior Armenian legislator described the Crossroads of Peace project as the roadmap of the region’s future.

Member of Parliament (Civil Contract) Sargis Khandanyan, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of Parliament, said at an international conference that only a year ago they used to speak about Crossroads of Peace project as a vision, idea or dream for unblocking connectivity which could make the region safer.

“On August 8, 2025, with the signing of the historic Peace Declaration in Washington and the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ is no longer just a vision or an idea—it is now a roadmap for the region’s future, with concrete parameters and broad international support. It will have not only regional but also global significance,” he said during the Crossroads of Peace: Advancing Regional Connectivity and Cooperation international conference organized by Civil Contract Party and Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

“During today’s conference, our speakers will analyze the political, geopolitical, and economic advantages of the project. Within the context of the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ initiative, we will also discuss the opportunities created by the ‘Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity’ connectivity project and the involvement of the United States. We will examine what the new security architecture of our region will look like amid today’s global uncertainty, and what role the European Union may play in shaping the region’s prospects for cooperation,” Khandanyan said.
