High-Tech Industry Minister meets with Amazon Web Services senior executives

Armenian High-Tech Industry Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan met with Andrew Vennekotter, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Senior Manager of Regulated Industry and Security Engagement for Europe, and Mary Corcione, the Senior Corporate Legal Counsel for Southern Europe.
According to a press release issued by the ministry, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss legislative reforms in the technology sector, particularly AWS’s global expertise and recommendations on cybersecurity management, as well as to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and the implementation of innovative projects. In his remarks, Minister Hayrapetyan emphasized the importance of collaboration with AWS for the development of Armenia’s technology ecosystem and the expansion of international partnerships.
Mr. Vennekotter in turn presented the company’s expertise in securing its own infrastructure and protecting customer cybersecurity, as well as in data governance and the application of artificial intelligence (AI).
During the discussions, the parties addressed global technology trends, opportunities to expand the introduction of cloud services across various sectors, as well as the model of digital sovereignty and the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. The minister emphasized that AWS’s European Sovereign Cloud aligns with Armenia’s strategic vision, combining data security, innovative development, and economic progress.
Representatives of the AWS delegation praised Armenia’s steady and continuous progress in the field of digitization, as well as its consistent efforts in adopting advanced technologies. Concluding the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing their cooperation and advancing Armenia’s technological potential through joint initiatives.
