The Government of Armenia plans to provide state support in 2026 to airlines that will operate flights on new routes to Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport and Gyumri’s Shirak Airport.
A budget of 3.6 billion AMD has been allocated from the state budget for the aviation sector in 2026, David Khudatyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure said at a joint parliamentary committee hearing on the 2026 state budget bill.
“This year, for the first time, state support is planned within the framework of the state budget for airlines that transport passengers on new routes to Zvartnots and Shirak Airports,” the minister said. Khudatyan clarified that this applies to airlines that will be based at Zvartnots or Shirak Airports during this period. Around 3 billion AMD has been allocated for subsidies.
“Airlines that express willingness to be based at Yerevan’s Zvartnots or Gyumri’s Shirak Airports and operate passenger flights on new routes to these airports—on the condition that at least one new route must originate from Shirak Airport—will receive subsidies of 20,000 AMD per passenger to Zvartnots Airport and 15,000 AMD per passenger to Shirak Airport for travelers aged over two,” Khudatyan said.
The minister noted that the program is open to all airlines that meet the conditions. He also expressed his pleasure that Wizz Air has already established a base at Zvartnots Airport.
