Cabinet approves over $42 million funding boost for roads

The Cabinet has approved the reallocation of 15.65 billion drams (about US$42.8 million) from the state budget to fund the capital repair and technical maintenance of several republican and interstate roads, as well as transport infrastructure facilities.

“The total length of roads included in the program is 63.5 kilometers. Some are of republican significance, while others are interstate roads. A significant portion consists of local roads,” Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan said at the Cabinet meeting, adding that the measures will also include oversight and procurement.

He also noted that additional reallocations had been made under two other consent agenda items previously approved by the government. Of these, 3.7 billion drams had already been allocated for medium repairs of roads with a total length of 76.4 kilometers, while 1.6 billion drams had been allocated for the repair and capital renovation of roads leading to cluster schools, covering a total length of 6 kilometers.
