Search and rescue operation for missing 3-year-old in Armenian village enters second day

A major search and rescue operation for a missing three-year-old child in an Armenian village has entered its second day, with residents of a nearby town joining the effort, which involves multiple emergency units.

Tigran Ovanesov, a three-year-old child of Armen Ovanesov and Parandzem Vatyan, a family from the village of Tsapatagh in Gegharkunik Province, was last seen playing outside with his five-year-old brother around 16:00 on October 27. The family has five children, including Tigran.

Tsapatagh Mayor Davit Gzoghyan told Armenpress that the child went missing under unknown circumstances.

The mayor stated that the Rescue Service, Police, National Security, and Patrol Service responded immediately and dispatched search and rescue teams to the village and surrounding areas. The efforts continued throughout the night and are ongoing, but no trace of the child has been found.

Gegharkunik Governor Karen Sargsyan and other local officials are also in the village. UAVs and K9 units are assisting in the search.

Residents of the neighboring Artanish village have joined the efforts as well.

“The entire village is distressed,” the mayor said.

Authorities have requested that anyone with information about the whereabouts of the child (pictured above) contact the police at 102 or 911, or visit any nearby police station.
