Armenia and Azerbaijan are trying to fully normalize relations after having established peace in August this year, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.
"Perhaps it is already well known that we have established peace with Azerbaijan. Both countries are now making greater efforts to fully normalize their relations,” he said at a panel discussion during the Fourth Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy in Paris.
“Alongside the government’s efforts aimed at signing official agreements and developing concrete solutions, there is also a great need for reconciliation between societies,” he said.
The Foreign Minister also addressed the impact of conflicts on women: “We fully understand and acknowledge the suffering of women during conflicts, and we deeply respect their feelings. At the same time, it is important to emphasize that when it comes to the reconciliation of societies and families, the leading role of women cannot be underestimated. This fact is both evident and of critical importance. For this reason, this issue holds particular significance for our country. We sincerely hope that the women of our society will find the strength to overcome the suffering caused by conflict, the loss of loved ones, the psychological trauma of displacement, and more. We also hope they will take on the crucial responsibility of preventing future suffering and advancing the process of reconciliation.”
