At the invitation of the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Vincent Roche, the laureate of the State Award of the Republic of Armenia for Global Contribution to High Technologies in 2025, visited the Engineering City.
In his speech, Minister Hayrapetyan noted that the laureate of the "Global IT Prize," Vincent Roche, was invited to a place where he could see how Armenian specialists and leaders in the field envision the future of Armenia's technological sector.
“We will have an Alley of Stars in the Engineering City dedicated to all those who have become laureates of the Global IT Prize. It is very symbolic that we begin with you. We will also include the stars of previous winners. To mark this moment, we would like to ask you to plant your tree, which will symbolize our connection with you, as well as with our technological sector, our nation, and our country,” Hayrapetyan said, addressing Vincent Roche.
Vincent Roche, in turn, noted that he was deeply impressed by the spirit and determination of Armenian specialists, which, "is characteristic of the Armenian people" he said.
“I remember the 1970s-80s, when Ireland fully undertook the path of development, moving away from an economy based mainly on agriculture. That was when the computer industry emerged. Ireland, fortunately, welcomed many Diaspora Armenians who linked their lives with Ireland.
Ireland felt that something special was about to happen in this computer revolution, so it launched a large-scale education program, accompanied by the establishment of the Industrial Development Authority, which became the platform for a long-term strategy for Ireland's future,” said Roche.
He emphasized that this is an important stage that will allow Armenian specialists to build upon their long-standing legacy in science and to find solutions to truly complex physical problems.
“You are starting from a much stronger position than we did in Ireland because you have a history of technology and science. We are on the threshold of a new era in the world of technology, one that is being enabled by artificial intelligence. It will permeate the worlds of physics, biology and chemistry. I believe you have great opportunities in the realm of physical data and physical intelligence, fields that rely on applied knowledge and combine the world’s technological tools with innovative ideas and artificial intelligence.
Take advantage of it. Be ambitious. Don’t look back,” said the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Analog Devices Inc.
Vincent Roche, accompanied by Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, toured the Engineering City and later participated in the opening of the “Legends' Walk of Fame.
