The Anti-Corruption Court has extended the pre-trial detention of business magnate Samvel Karapetyan by another 30 days without bail, his lawyer Aram Vardevanyan told reporters after Judge Vahe Dolmazyan delivered the ruling.
Karapetyan, the billionaire tycoon and owner of the Tashir Group of Companies, was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention in Yerevan on June 18 on charges of publicly calling for the overthrow of the government.
In early October, prosecutors added money laundering charges to Karapetyan’s indictment.
He has denied any wrongdoing.
