Primate of the Diocese of Aragatsotn arrested

Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, Head of the Diocese of Aragatsotn, has been arrested, his lawyer Ara Zohrabyan told reporters.

According to Zohrabyan, criminal proceedings have been launched against the Primate of the Diocese of Aragatsotn of the Armenian Apostolic Church on charges of obstructing or forcing participation in legal gatherings and for attempts to influence the results of the elections.

Several clergymen of the Armenian Apostolic Church were also detained on Wednesday.
