Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that bilateral relations with Finland have gained new momentum in recent times.

He made the remarks during a joint press conference with Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, who is visiting Armenia in her capacity as the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.

FM Mirzoyan expressed deep appreciation for Finland’s institutional support in strengthening democracy and enhancing resilience in Armenia.

“We highly value the institutional support Finland provides to Armenia in terms of strengthening democracy and increasing resilience. One example of this is Finland’s participation in the ‘Resilient Syunik’ initiative. But Finland’s engagement goes far beyond that. We have a broad framework of cooperation, and the willingness we continuously see from official Helsinki is a source of encouragement for us,” said Mirzoyan.

The Foreign Minister emphasized the particular importance of the Armenia–Nordic–Baltic (NB8) cooperation format:

“We are confident that there is much we can learn and gain from this format. The Nordic-Baltic countries are well known for their mature and robust democracies, and we hope that Armenia’s contribution to this partnership will also prove meaningful for our Nordic-Baltic partners,” he added.

Mirzoyan also noted that he and his Finnish counterpart had discussed Armenia–European Union relations, highlighting that the next European Political Community Summit will take place in Yerevan in May 2026.

During the press conference, Minister Mirzoyan extended an invitation to the OSCE Chair-in-Office to visit Armenia again in her capacity as Finland’s Foreign Minister.
