Washington breakthrough renews confidence in new chapter of peace and stability – Armenian envoy to UN

Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN, Ambassador Paruyr Hovhannisyan, delivered remarks at the UNGA80 1st Committee General Debate.

He underlined that global disarmament and non-proliferation are among the top priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy agenda and stressed that a robust and effective conventional arms control regime, alongside confidence and security building measures, is essential for maintaining peace at the international and regional levels, the Armenian Permanent Representation to the UN said in a press release.

Ambassador Hovhannisyan emphasized that breakthrough achieved on August 8 in Washington, D.C., through signing of the declaration between Armenia and Azerbaijan, renewed the confidence that a new chapter of peace, stability, and regional cooperation is opening in the South Caucasus.
