Rising global demand for metals sparks increased interest in Armenia’s mining industry, says official

The Armenian government has been collaborating with mining industry representatives to attract international investments in the sector, a senior official said.

Asatur Vardanyan, the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, told reporters during the Mining Armenia Forum 2025 that Armenia needs significant geological exploration.

“We are creating the prerequisites for highly experienced foreign organizations to invest in Armenia. The sharp increase in demand for metals, including critical metals, in the global market has heightened interest toward Armenia,” he said.

A comprehensive assessment of mineral reserves is currently underway to understand the country’s potential and determine economic policy aligned with global demand, the official said, highlighting environmental standards.

Furthermore, the ministry is working with U.S. and EU geological agencies to establish a geological service in Armenia by 2027, which will enable new explorations to discover additional deposits.
