Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for brokering what he described as the ‘historic’ agreement with Azerbaijan earlier in August in Washington, D.C.
“Once again thank you President Donald Trump for brokering this historic agreement with Azerbaijan — something no one before achieved,” Pashinyan said on X. “Reaffirming my commitment to work on further institutionalization of peace & realization of TRIPP.”
The Armenian PM made the post in response to Trump’s statement on Truth Social, where he posted a photo with the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders and said “Such an Honor to have helped settle the War with Azerbaijan and Armenia and, at the same time, become friends with these two Great Leaders and Men, President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. It will be an everlasting friendship for me but, more importantly, for the United States of America!”
The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is a connectivity project in Armenia envisaged under the U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani joint declaration signed in Washington, D.C. The project is expected to unlock strategic economic opportunities that will create long term benefits by promoting infrastructure investment and enhancing regional connectivity.
