The Armenian people are the authors of the peace agenda, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Monday.
“I believe that the people of Armenia are the authors of the concept of peace. Our people are the authors of the agenda of peace,” he said at the Comprehensive Security and Resilience 2025 International Conference in Yerevan, emphasizing that the fact that he is incumbent prime minister is a testament to this.
Pashinyan, however, noted that many among the political and intellectual elite would oppose his premiership is a survey were to be done. “And there’ve been efforts for this, rallies, calls, and so on. But at what expense is the government of Armenia stable? Are we spending a lot of money? Are we using hybrid technologies? No, not at all. This is the next turning point in the millennia-old history of our people. Because over the course of the thousands of years of history of our people, the formula had been the following – the elites had created narratives and imposed them upon the people,” Pashinyan said.
Now, he added, the situation is completely different – the political elite, the ruling majority, is politicizing the substance which stems from the people. Pashinyan said that during the thousands of years, the people always had the substance they imagined. “But the nuance is that the people don't have one hand to write and articulate and publish it.”
Pashinyan reiterated that his administration’s policies after 2021 have been developed during one-on-one meetings with the people during the campaigning period.
