President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the newly elected Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Shaikha Al Nowais.
The President welcomed the guest, congratulated her on assuming the post and expressed hope that cooperation between UNWTO and Armenia will continue to grow.
Shaikha Al Nowais thanked the President for the reception, noting that was her first visit to the region and that she had chosen Armenia as her first destination. She highlighted her admiration for Armenia’s natural beauty, the rapid development of its tourism sector, its cuisine, and the country’s potential for developing diverse tourism destinations.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for the development of health, medical, and sports tourism and expressed their willingness to take joint steps to deepen cooperation between UNWTO and Armenia.
