PM Pashinyan receives newly elected UN Tourism Secretary-General

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the newly elected Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Shaikha Al Nowais.

The Prime Minister congratulated her on assuming the new post and wished her success in her future activities. He emphasized the close cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and UNWTO for the continued development of Armenia’s tourism sector.

PM Pashinyan noted that this year Armenia has recorded positive dynamics in the tourism sector, highlighting in particular the preparation of regional tourism packages with the organization’s support. He also underscored the importance of UNWTO’s contribution to the development of Armenia’s Tourism Strategy.

According to the source, Nasser Al-Nuwais expressed readiness to cooperate with the Armenian government in the mentioned areas, stressing that Armenia has great potential for tourism development.

 Shaikha Al Nowais, in turn, noted that UNWTO will continue active cooperation and dialogue with Armenian partners.
