The Court of General Jurisdiction has rejected a petition to release Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, the Primate of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, from custody. The court also extended his detention for an additional 10 days.
Archbishop Ajapahyan has been held in pre-trial detention since June 28 on charges of advocating the overthrow of the government, which he denies.
