Nigeria attaches importance to cooperation with Armenia in education and culture

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Artur Martirosyan received a delegation led by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Nigeria, Abdulrasheed Omar Lavali (residence in Tehran).

According to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, welcoming the guests, Artur Martirosyan emphasized that the Government of Armenia is actively developing cooperation with African countries, particularly in the fields of education, science, culture, sports and youth.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of cultural dialogue with the Federal Republic of Nigeria, specifically emphasizing the mutual recognition of historical and cultural heritage. He also presented the large-scale reforms underway in Armenia in the areas of education, science, culture, and sports, stressing that Armenia values the exchange of best practices.

Martirosyan introduced the "Academic City" strategic program, aimed at ensuring modern research and innovative activities. He noted that Armenia’s State Education Development Program outlines several goals in higher education and science through 2030, including a significant increase in the number of foreign students.

Artur Martirosyan stated that 23 Nigerian citizens studied at Armenian universities during the previous academic year, expressing confidence that this number could grow in the near future. In this context, the possibility of developing a state scholarship program for citizens of African countries was discussed.

The Deputy Minister also noted that the electronic platform fs.emis.am has been launched to simplify the admission process for foreign applicants and to manage it entirely online. Martirosyan emphasized that Armenia offers high-quality educational models, such as the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, COAF Smart Centers and Armath Engineering Laboratories.

The parties also discussed the possibility of deepening cooperation in the fields of culture and sports.

For his part, Abdulrasheed Omar Lavali expressed gratitude for the reception, noting that Nigeria attaches particular importance to cooperation with Armenia in the fields of education and culture.

The sides reaffirmed their willingness to strengthen cooperation and promote educational and cultural initiatives through joint programs.
