Life safer after delimitation with Azerbaijan, says mayor of Armenian border town

Life has become safer in the Baghanis-Voskepar section of Noyemberyan Municipality since the delimitation of the international border between Armenia and Azerbaijan began, according to Noyemberyan Mayor Arsen Aghababyan.

“In the past, there was a likelihood of gunfire directed at local residents or travelers, but now the situation has changed. There is a border zone that is monitored by border guards, as a result of mutual agreement, rather than by regular army units. Our territories have never been as safe as they are now,” the mayor told Armenpress.

He said that life has become more vibrant in the community and nearby villages, as many events are now being organized there.

“We celebrated Vardavar with great excitement this year in Koghb, as we traditionally do,” he said, adding that over 10,000 people participated in the festivities.
