A nationwide poll conducted by the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Center for Insights in Survey Research (CISR) shows that 49% of respondents would vote to join the EU if a referendum on Armenia’s prospective European Union membership was held this coming Sunday.
15% said they would vote against, while 31% said they would not vote. 5% refused to answer.
Asked about the main benefit of joining the EU, 37% of respondents pointed out strengthening security, while 18% said it was strengthening the economy. 10% said the main benefit would be the development of the country, 5% pointed out visa liberalization, another 5% mentioned development of democracy, 4% said peace, 2% noted weakening of Russian influence, another 2% mentioned a better future, 1% mentioned the union of civilized countries, and another 1% said creating jobs. 6% mentioned other advantages, 2% said there would be no advantages, while 8% refused to answer.
The survey was conducted on behalf of the International Republican Institute’s Center for Insights in Survey Research by Breavis (represented by IPSC LLC). Data was collected from June 16-26, 2025 through CATI administered telephone interviews.The sample consisted of 1,505 resident citizens of Armenia and forcibly displaced former residents of Nagorno Karabakh who are now residing in Armenia (who may or may not be citizens). Residents who have lived in Armenia for fewer than six months were excluded from the sample. It is representative of the population with access to a mobile phone, which excludes approximately 1.7% of adults.
The response rate was 25%. The margin of error does not exceed ±2.5% for the full sample.
