Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting in New York with Mohamed Khaled Khiari, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, the foreign ministry said in a press release.
The officials exchanged views on the prospects of the “UN80” initiative of the UN Secretary-General.
During the meeting, urgent issues on international and regional security were touched upon. The evolving situation in the Middle East was discussed.
Touching upon the situation in the South Caucasus, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan briefed the UN official on the efforts of Armenia to advance the peace agenda in the region and emphasized the importance of a swift signing of the Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
