Prime Minister warns clear stance on activities of influence agents needed

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has emphasized the importance of developing a clear and focused approach toward the activities of foreign influence agents, particularly in the context of threats to Armenia’s sovereignty and security.

Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the National Security Service (NSS), Pashinyan stated, “In the context of threats to Armenia’s sovereignty and security, special attention must be paid to the activities of foreign influence agents.''

“In recent years, we have begun working, and must now work more seriously, on a renewed concept: the institution of influence agents. Even if the characteristics defined by the Criminal Code are not fully applicable, we must still be able to clearly express our position on this form of activity,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Pashinyan, the influence agent system, particularly in the context of hybrid threats, targets the state, its sovereignty, and national identity.

“This essentially means casting doubt on the system of rights, the competence, and the freedom of Armenian citizens to determine their own future, and engaging in destructive activities,” he added.
