Spain’s Alcàsser recognizes Armenian Genocide

The city council of Alcasser, Spain has adopted a motion recognizing the Armenian Genocide, becoming the 42nd Spanish city to do so.
The government of Spain has not officially acknowledged the Armenian Genocide despite ongoing efforts by the local Armenian community. 6 Spanish provinces have recognized it.
The motion to the city council was filed by the Ararat Armenian Union of Spain. It was adopted unanimously, according to the Orer newspaper.
With the adopted statement, the city council condemned the genocide perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey and the policy of denial of current Turkish authorities.
