Israel's defence minister has warned that Tehran's residents will "pay the price" for Iranian attacks on Israeli citizens after overnight strikes killed five people and injured dozens.
Israel Katz accused Iran's leader Ali Khamenei of deliberately targeting civilian areas "to deter the IDF from continuing the attack that is collapsing his capabilities,” according to the BBC.
Katz called Khamenei a "cowardly murderer" and a "boastful dictator".
He said Israel would retaliate "soon".
His comments came after Iran's strikes across Israel killed several people, bringing the death toll amid the ongoing Iranian counterstrikes since Friday to 19.
At least 224 Iranians have been killed in Israeli strikes since hostilities began on Friday, Tehran Times reported citing the Iranian health ministry. 1,227 people have been injured, according to the report.
