Armenia and Turkiye have developed an active dialogue in the past few years, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.

Speaking at the GLOBSEC 2025 forum, Pashinyan said Armenia and Turkiye nowadays maintain direct contact, whereas they needed third-party mediation for that in the past.

“We’ve had several meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and those meetings were constructive. True, we don’t have tangible results on the ground yet, but we do have important progress. Three years ago, for example, when Armenia wanted to find out Turkiye’s stance about any issue, it had to ask for a third country’s mediation. Today we have a direct communication with our neighbors and even daily contact,” Pashinyan said.

The PM said he hopes this progress would lead to the establishment of diplomatic ties, opening of the borders and strengthening of economic ties. This is a matter of time, Pashinyan said.

“This is linked with the broader economic agenda of the region, but as I already said we are consistently moving forward with the agenda of establishing peace. This is our duty, and we are determined to achieve this. We also see Turkiye’s readiness, as well as Azerbaijan’s desire to achieve peace. Of course there are some nuances that need to be addressed, but I am sure we will succeed,” the Armenian PM said.
