Prime Minister Pashinyan holds meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General Tatiana Molcean

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Tatiana Molcean, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
The Prime Minister welcomed Ms. Molcean on the occasion of her visit to Armenia, emphasizing the ongoing development of cooperation between Armenia and various UN bodies, including the UNECE, the PM's office has said in a readout.
Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that Armenia highly values the role of the UN system in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), enhancing cooperation in the environmental and economic sectors, and building institutional capacities.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the expansion of cooperation between Armenia and UN structures, including the implementation of joint programs with the UNECE. They also explored opportunities for further collaboration, particularly in the fields of energy and infrastructure development, and reviewed Armenia’s progress in achieving the UN SDGs.
According to the official source, the Prime Minister presented the Armenian government's vision for the modernization and improvement of infrastructure, including in the transport, logistics, energy, and digital sectors. In this context, special emphasis was placed on Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, which aims to reopen regional transport routes based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity.
The parties also touched upon the 17th Conference on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Armenia in 2026, highlighting its strategic importance on both regional and global environmental agendas.
Ms. Molcean, in turn, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the UNECE's readiness to continue cooperation with the Government of Armenia, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, water resource management, and environmental protection.
