The Cabinet approved the foreign ministry’s motion on opening an embassy in Muscat, Oman.
The foreign ministry said that Armenia’s ties with Arab countries in the Gulf have been dynamically developing in the recent years, and the friendly ties with Oman have intensified as well.
Ties include trade, air connection, IT, education, science, culture and tourism.
The purpose of establishing a resident embassy is to strengthen the political, economic and cultural relations between Armenia and Oman.
The opening of the embassy will contribute to strengthening the warm political dialogue, trade-economic ties, tourism flow, as well as trade turnover, including transit, between Armenia and Oman. It would also contribute to strengthening Armenia’s ties with several other countries in East Africa and Indian Ocean regions given Oman’s historic and cultural ties with them.
