US considers recognizing Crimea as Russian territory – Bloomberg

The United States is prepared to recognize Russian control of Crimea as part of a broader peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly said Ukraine will not cede any part of its territory to Russia.

The sources told Bloomberg News that no final decision has been made but the option is considered in ongoing efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Russia took control over Crimea in 2014 but most of the international community, including the US and the EU, do not recognize Russian sovereignty over the peninsula.
