Pashinyan says his administration secured additional $4,2 billion budget revenue since taking office

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday credited his administration for securing growing budget revenues ever since taking office in 2018.

PM Pashinyan made the remarks in parliament during debates of his administration’s 2021-2026 program’s execution report in 2024.

“I have to underscore that Armenia’s state budget revenues had been growing in the years preceding the people’s, non-violent, velvet revolution, and no one can deny this. But the 2018 revolution gave new momentum to the budget growth, and excluding all average numbers, only thanks to the pace of the revolution, an additional of over 1 trillion 684 billion drams or 4,2 billion dollars entered the state budget of Armenia from 2018 to 2024,” Pashinyan said.

He underscored that the abovementioned figures were recorded despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 war. The figures also don’t include the state debt and transfers of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.

Pashinyan also lauded his administration’s anti-corruption work and other measures.

He said the extra revenue was ensured as a result of tackling the shadow economy, artificial monopolies and tax evasion.

Pashinyan also lauded the stolen asset recovery division of the prosecution, noting that a total of more than 1,7 billion dollars in illegally obtained assets are now frozen.
