French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot has called for the conclusion of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty and the release of arbitrarily detained Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan.
Speaking on the sidelines of a EU foreign ministerial meeting in Luxembourg, the French FM touched upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani border tension, expressing hope that the EU monitoring mission in Armenia would contribute to suppressing the tension.
“Regarding Azerbaijan, I am extremely worried about the growing border tension. I hope that the European mission deployed on the ground can be strengthened to effectively monitor the situation and suppress that tension. The peace agreement must be finally signed, and those arbitrarily detained and imprisoned must be released,” the French FM said.
