European Wrestling Championships: Armenia's Artur Aleksanyan advances to semifinals

Member of Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team, Olympic, world and European champion Artur Aleksanyan has advanced to the semifinals of the European Wrestling Championships.

In the quarterfinals held in Bratislava, Slovakia, Aleksanyan (97 kg) defeated Italy’s Nikoloz Kakhelashvili with a score of 5:2 advancing to the semifinals.

In the 67 kg weight category, Slavik Galstyan faced Murat Firat of Turkey but was defeated. Shant Khachatryan and Samvel Grigoryan also lost their matches in their respective weight categories.

Later today, Karen Aslanyan and Malkhas Amoyan will compete for the European championship title.
