1 minute read

Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn led a delegation to Armenia on an official visit on April 1-5.

Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn arrived in Armenia at the invitation of Armenian Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan. The trip marked the first official visit to Armenia by a top Vietnamese legislator since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992.

The discussions during the meetings focused on expansion of interparliamentary cooperation, intensification of contacts between parliamentary friendship groups, as well as regional security.

During the meeting with Simonyan, Chairman Mẫn expressed Vietnam’s support for the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.

Cooperation prospects were discussed during a meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.  Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Trần Thanh Mẫn also discussed the development of bilateral ties.
