President Khachaturyan, Greek Ambassador discuss bilateral cooperation

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Armenia, Christos Sofianopoulos, on the occasion of Greece's Independence Day.

According to the Presidential Office, President Khachaturyan, welcoming the Ambassador, congratulated the leadership and people of Greece on their national holiday. He emphasized that relations with Greece are of significant importance to Armenia.

“Armenia highly values its historically close relations with Greece, based on deep mutual sympathy, support, and solidarity, dating back to ancient times,” the President stated.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Sofianopoulos noted that it was a great honor for him to be in Armenia, as “Armenia is a friend of our country, and our relations stretch back centuries. Our bilateral relations are going from strength to strength.”

The meeting addressed the broad bilateral agenda of cooperation, emphasizing the full realization of the potential for collaboration in political, economic, cultural, military, high-tech, and other spheres.

In particular, the prospects for further promoting the exchange of best practices in education, as well as officer education, were discussed.

The discussion also touched on expanding close cooperation between Armenia and Greece, both bilaterally and within the frameworks of the European Union and other international platforms, including the potential for fully realizing the Armenia-Greece-Cyprus trilateral format.
