Russia says active political dialogue with Armenia continues

Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said that a “multi-planar political dialogue” with Armenia continues.

Speaking at a press briefing, Zakharova said that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin maintain permanent contact.

“The Armenian Prime Minister has accepted the invitation to participate in the Moscow celebrations dedicated to the 80th victory in the Great Patriotic War. Constructive negotiations of the foreign ministers have taken place. Consultations were recently held on the level of deputy foreign ministers. The intergovernmental, interparliamentary mechanisms are working, interdepartmental cooperation is ongoing, a roundtable on agro-industrial issues organized by the chamber of commerce and the Russian-Armenian business union took place. There are also initiatives in the cultural, educational and humanitarian areas,” Zakharova said, adding that the economic ties are also developing.

The Russian foreign ministry representative said that Armenia “feels” the importance of the Eurasian integration project for the country’s socio-economic stability and security. “We are cooperating also in other international platforms, particularly the UN. Our approaches in the majority of issues in the global agenda are either matching or very close to each other,” she said. At the same time, Zakharova said, there are issues that are yet to be resolved. These issues, according to her, are still under discussion.
