Syrian official thanks Armenia for humanitarian aid

Armenian Ambassador to Syria Ruben Kharazyan has officially handed over the humanitarian aid to Fawwaz Hilal, the Deputy Governor of the Aleppo Governorate, the Aleppo-based Kantsasar newspaper reported.

The handover ceremony took place at the Aleppo Industrial and Agricultural Production Complex. 

Armenia’s Consul general in Aleppo Ara Avetisyan and Aleppo Governorate Foreign Relations Chief Ghassan Farouh also attended the ceremony.

The 80 tons of food and medical supplies will be distributed in Aleppo and Damascus.

Ambassador Kharazyan said, “The Syrian and Armenian peoples have historically had friendly ties and provided mutual aid. I hope that the Syrian people will soon overcome these challenges and Syria will once again become a prosperous country.”

Deputy Governor of the Aleppo Fawwaz Hilal thanked the Armenian people and government for the aid, adding that the friendly relations between the two countries are based on strong historical ties.
