UNIFIL Sector West Commander praises Armenian peacekeepers

Armenia’s Ambassador to Lebanon Vahagn Atabekyan has visited the UNIFIL headquarters on the border with Israel to participate in the ceremonial rotation of the Armenian peacekeeping contingent. He was accompanied by Armenian embassy military attaché Colonel Artur Dalibaltyan and counsellor Stepan Gevorgyan.
At the UNIFIL HQ, the Armenian Ambassador met with UNIFIL Sector West Commander Brigadier General Nicola Mandolesi, who lauded the Armenian peacekeeping contingent’s service during the tense period of the Lebanese-Israeli conflict, stressing that the Armenian contingent continued carrying out patrol even when most of the peacekeepers were sheltered in bunkers, the embassy said in a readout.
During the change of shift ceremony, the Ambassador greeted the Armenian peacekeepers and thanked them for their excellent service and contribution in establishing stability and peace in Lebanon, the embassy said.
