Armenia and the EU continue the negotiations around visa liberalization, the Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan said Monday.
The talks began in December 2024.
“The next phase is planned to take place on April 7-11 in 2025, when the second delegation will visit,” Hovhannisyan told lawmakers at the EU integration affairs committee. “We’ve prepared rather well for this process. Our partners in various ministries are duly prepared, and even our European partners are pleasantly surprised from the level of our readiness,” he said.
Hovhannisyan said the process is actively ongoing but timeframes for completion cannot be mentioned now.
In other countries such processes took between three to six years. “But I think in case of Armenia this process will proceed much quicker,” he added.
The EU made a decision in 2024 to start visa liberalization dialogue with Armenia.
