Interior minister concerned over burglary gangs

Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan has expressed concern over the cases of home burglaries and thefts of car parts apparently perpetrated by organized crime groups.
“These cases are concerning. In practice we have recorded that very often various groups are involved. Recently, authorities exposed a group that was committing apartment burglaries in Kotayk province, in Yerevan and elsewhere. These are professionally organized groups,” Sargsyan told reporters.
Several criminal cases launched in the past have been closed after exposing these groups, she said.
Sargsyan said the law enforcement agencies will consistently work to prevent and solve crimes.
“We’ve seen that criminals often take advantage of infrastructure conditions, such as the absence of lighting, camera angles, and use special clothing in order to avoid identification,” Sargsyan added. She said that the number of solved apartment burglary crimes grew in the first months of 2025.
