41 deficiencies identified during an audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have been addressed, and an official application regarding the completed work has already been submitted to the European Union.
“The International Civil Aviation Organization conducted an audit to assess compliance with international standards and requirements in Armenia’s aviation sector. As part of this, a comprehensive action plan was developed to eliminate several deficiencies identified in the field of aviation accident investigation. Currently, 41 deficiencies have been corrected, and a report on the work completed has been submitted to the European Union. We are awaiting a response from our partners,” said Kristine Ghalechyan, the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, during a regular session of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture, and Environmental Protection, while presenting the efforts made to bring Armenia's aviation sector in line with international standards.
Armenian aviation has been included on the European Union's "blacklist" since June 2020, which restricts Armenian air carriers from entering EU airspace. Armenian authorities have been working for years to lift this restriction and ensure compliance with international standards.
