Germany’s foreign minister Annalena Baerbock has attached importance to the conclusion of the Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations around the peace treaty and called on both sides to sign the document now.
“The news that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on a peace agreement is cause for hope. After decades of hostility and war, the fact that lasting peace is now within reach is important for the region and beyond. After long negotiations, Armenia's courageous concessions make this final step on the path possible - a path we have accompanied both countries on. I call on both sides to now sign the peace agreement,” Baerbock said in a post on X.
The governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan announced on March 13 that the negotiations around the peace treaty have been successfully concluded. The date and location of signing the agreement is yet to be determined.
