The Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands is not directed against any third party and does not contain provisions on military cooperation or armaments.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Caspar Veldkamp, stated this during a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

“This declaration does not contain any provisions on military cooperation or armaments. There are many other provisions through which we can further strengthen our relations. This does not imply military cooperation, nor does it have anything to do with armaments,” the Dutch Foreign Minister noted.

He also emphasized that Armenia is seeking to balance its foreign policy, and in this context, the Netherlands aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries. “The declaration signed between Yerevan and the Netherlands will also contribute to strengthening Armenia-European Union relations,” said the Dutch FM.

Additionally, he stated that the Netherlands and the EU support the normalization of relations between Armenia and both Azerbaijan and Turkey.

“We see how much the Armenian government is striving to make progress on this issue, and we encourage these steps. We also urge Azerbaijan and Turkey to continue their efforts towards normalizing relations with Armenia,” the Dutch FM said.
