Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace presented at UNECE Inland Transport Committee session

Armenia has presented the Crossroads of Peace project at the UNECE 87th Annual Session of the Inland Transport Committee in Geneva.

Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan led a delegation to the event, the ministry said in a press release.

He delivered remarks and presented Armenia’s approach in expanding transport routes, developing green transport and digitization. The Deputy Minister presented the government’s steps for simplifying movement of persons and goods through border and customs checkpoints.

In context of unblocking of regional connection routes and in response to comments made by Turkish and Azerbaijani delegates about an extraterritorial corridor, the Armenian official reiterated Armenia’s position that the unblocking shall take place on the basis of sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality and reciprocity.

Simonyan warned that the attempts of advancing the narrative of an extraterritorial corridor have a hidden agenda and territorial aspirations.
