Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Karapetyan, received a delegation led by Lilia Gretarsdottir, Head of the Department for the Implementation of Human Rights, Justice, and Legal Cooperation Standards at the Council of Europe.
According to a press release issued by the ministry, Ms. Karapetyan expressed gratitude for the Council of Europe's continued support in introducing European values, standards, and procedures, as well as in establishing an independent judiciary and anti-corruption institutional structures in Armenia.
Both sides highly appreciated the level of implementation and funding of the Armenia-Council of Europe Action Plan 2023-2026, which includes programs covering nearly the entire reform agenda of the Ministry of Justice. The meeting underscored the stable cooperation established with the Venice Commission and the Directorate General for Human Rights and Rule of Law.
At the request of the guests, the Deputy Minister provided details on alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, expressing confidence that the participation of arbitrators from Council of Europe member states in the next "Arbitration Week," scheduled for fall 2025, will further strengthen the development of this institution.
The meeting also addressed the work of the interdepartmental commission studying judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
