Armenia must be able to co-exist with neighbors without foreign interference or help – PM

Armenia will secure its future when it will be able to live in the environment of its neighbors without external help or intervention, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.

Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the Armenian-American community in Washington, D.C., Pashinyan said that his administration has had the objective of ensuring Armenia’s durability for a long time.  “In my assessment, we would have done that when we would have created a situation for us to be able to live in our region, in the environment of our neighbors without foreign help. This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t have alliances or cooperations with the most various geopolitical centers. We must have an objective to have the chance to live in our region without foreign help and foreign interference. That’s why our perception is that we must perceive ourselves as the primary tool for resolving our own problems. Whenever we have a problem in our region our usual average response is about applying here or there, to some extra-regional factor. This isn’t about someone else, this is about us, moreover I understand why we had acted like that, but regardless I think we must change our perspective and say that if we have a problem in our region we must perceive ourselves as the subject of resolving that problem, and our first reaction shouldn’t be about finding a force for us to request it solve the problem,” Pashinyan said.
