Arzni Poultry Farm welcomes the representatives of the UN World Food Programme in Armenia

On January 24, the representative and country director of the UN World Food Programme in Armenia, Nanna Skau visited Arzni Poultry Farm.

Accompanied by the Director of “Arzni,” Gevorg Janvelyan, Nanna Skau toured the farm, gaining insight into its production processes, state-of-the-art technologies, equipment, and the upcoming projects.

Since its inception, Arzni Poultry Farm has been committed to enhancing food self-sufficiency in Armenia, fostering sustainable agricultural development, and contributing to the nutritional well-being of the population. The discussions between Nanna Skau and Gevorg Janvelyan centered on exploring potential areas of collaboration to further these objectives.

"It was a valuable opportunity to visit 'Arzni' poultry farm and learn about the egg production process. It is important to engage with local food production companies and explore new partnerships that have a shared vision of enhancing food security  and promote healthy lifestyles in Armenia,” said Nanna Skau, WFP Representative and Country Director in Armenia.

Gevorg Janvelyan emphasized that as a leader in the food production sector, Arzni Poultry Farm’s mission is to supply high-quality, fresh eggs to the Armenian population and strengthen the country’s food security:

“We were pleased to host representatives of the United Nations World Food Programme and engage in discussions on various opportunities for collaboration. Through our activities, public awareness campaigns and various initiatives, we strive to promote healthy and sustainable consumption habits among the public. I am confident that we can have effective collaboration with the WFP in these and similar areas, which will allow us to combine our efforts to achieve common goals," says Gevorg Janvelyan.

Arzni Poultry Farm places great emphasis on environmental protection and eco-agriculture. The facility has installed high-efficiency solar panels, which not only reduce emissions but also ensure the company's resource self-sufficiency.

He further noted that the company adheres to international best practices, adapting them to local needs. Arzni Poultry Farm houses high-yield Lohmann LSL Classic and Lohmann Brown Classic breeds, supported by automated systems, state-of-the-art technologies, and cutting-edge equipment, including the Dutch MOBA egg sorting machine and Hellmann caging equipment.

Looking ahead, Arzni Poultry Farm plans to expand its operations and production capacities, construct a new poultry facility, and introduce eco-friendly egg production in Armenia for the first time.

Arzni Poultry Farm was founded in the 1990s, amidst Armenia's socio-economic and political hardships, to address the declining poultry industry in the newly independent country. At the time, Armenia was heavily reliant on imported eggs, which often raised serious health concerns and posed significant risks to food security. Through its activities, Arzni laid the foundation for local egg production, established production traditions, and contributed to the sector's development and country’s food security.
