Armenia’s strategy is about ruling out war, says Pashinyan

The Armenian government’s strategy is about ruling out any escalation or war in the region, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.

“One of the most important nuances of our strategy is that we understand that there are certain powers in and beyond the region who seek to generate new escalation,” Pashinyan said in an interview aired on Public Television.

He said that ‘well-known’ powers have been attempting to draw Armenia into a row, something he described as the important part of generating escalations. “In many cases the well-known powers have been trying to draw us into a row and that’s the logic we’ve traditionally been in. This was used to ignite the region,” Pashinyan warned, adding that his administration’s strategy is to rule out escalation.

Pashinyan said the Armenian government’s strategy is to not allow escalation and respond to everything in a way to rule out escalation or war, or the presumed justification for it.

The PM credited his strategy for 2024 marking the calmest year in the past 20 years.
